Mr. Hat's Story

This group of rats was transferred from Lakeland Animal Shelter in Wisconsin after being rescued from an abandonment case. They are all still getting used to us but seem generally well-socialized to people and each other.<br/><br/>Mr. Hat wins the trophy as the naughtiest rat in the group, he nips people, is very skittish and also causes scuffles with the other rats sometimes. Lost Woods Animal Sanctuary's Adoption Policy

Adopters first fill out an application on our website, which asks about the adopter's household, how they plan on housing their new pet and what they plan on feeding. Because exotics have very species-specific housing and dietary needs, we have a director reach out to each adopter to discuss proper housing, diet and husbandry, as well as lifespan and handling. Adopters can choose to schedule a meet-and-greet with the animal or adopt without a meet. We need to receive a picture of the enclosure when it is ready, and when the enclosure and the adopter are ready, we schedule the adoption. Our adoption fees are set to be comparable to the animal's price at a pet store. Adopters sign a contract certifying that if they can no longer care for the animal, they must return them to Lost Woods. When adopting bonded pairs/groups, each bondmate is half fee. Fees: Rabbit, chinchilla, or tortoise $100 Bearded dragon or degu $50 Guinea pig $40 pair $30 single Leopard gecko $30 Rat, hamster, or gerbil $20 Mouse $15
