Meet Elliott!<br/><br/>Elliott is a handsome American Smooth guinea pig with striking white, black, and tan markings and a sweet personality to match. This charming little guy enjoys exploring his surroundings, nibbling on fresh veggies, and relaxing in a cozy hideout after a busy day of wheeking for snacks. With his curious nature and gentle demeanor, Elliott is sure to bring lots of joy to his future family!<br/><br/>Guinea pigs have a vegan diet that consists primarily of unlimited high-quality Timothy hay, supplemented with 1/8 cup of hay-based guinea pig pellets each day. They also need about 1 cup of fresh vegetables daily, including favorites like romaine, green and red leaf lettuce, escarole, parsley, dill, and bell peppers. Because guinea pigs cannot produce their own vitamin C, they require a consistent source through their diet or supplements to stay healthy.<br/><br/>Elliott is currently housed on his own and has been doing well independently! While guinea pigs are generally social animals, every pig has their own personality. Elliott could do well as a solo pet in a home where he receives plenty of daily interaction and enrichment, or he may be a candidate for a carefully managed introduction to another compatible guinea pig if his future family is interested. Any introductions should be done slowly and thoughtfully to help ensure a successful match. Elliott will need a solid-bottom enclosure with a minimum of 7.5 square feet of living space (approximately 2 ft. × 4 ft.), along with fresh food and water, cozy hideouts, toys, and enrichment to keep him happy and active!<br/><br/>Our shelter is open Tuesday–Saturday from 12–4 (closed Mondays; adoption and surrender appointments only on Sundays).
