Mozzarella, Peppercorn & Prosciutto's Story

Fostered in Woodstock, CT.

UPDATE 2/8/26:

Mozzarella is absolutely adorable! She is settling in very nicely and every morning can be found perched on her wooden house waiting for her Vitamin C tablet. She jumps down as soon as food is headed her way and immediately “T-Rexes” (walks on her hind feet with her front feet curled like a little T-Rex). She likes veggie treats, pea flakes, grapes, carrots and blueberries, and LOVES lettuce of any kind (she’s really not picky). She does not love being picked up, and will try to avoid it, but once settled against your chest she will relax and eat pea flakes.

Prosciutto looks like she has the most beautiful eyeliner on one side of her face. I call her little princess because it really does make her look pretty. She has come a long way! When I first got her she would hide or run away, but now she comes out to see what is going on. She likes blueberries, lettuce, grapes, pea flakes, and chewing on apple sticks. She is the easiest to pick up and will settle on you.

Peppercorn is a little fluff ball and is constantly in a state of “OMG” but is getting better. She is slower to move but still runs away. I try to corral her into a soft bed and pick her up from there. She will scream when you first pick her up but she will take some pea flakes after being held close.

They are very curious girls overall and are a lot of fun to watch. They could possibly be introduced to other piggies, as they show interest in my personal two.

UPDATE 11/3/25:

This adorable trio of pigs each has a distinct personality.

Mozzarella is the most active and vocal pig. She’s very people centric, knows who’s home and when, and loves wheeking when someone enters the room. She tries to be the top guinea pig but Prosciutto does not budge whatsoever. Excellent eater and loves smacking other guinea pigs with toys (genuinely).

Peppercorn is the shyest guinea pig I think I’ve ever had, or have worked with. She will scream dramatically when picked up, even for nail trims. She will take treats from your hand though! She is quite the timid eater, and will let the other pigs take the good stuff before she bothers. She can usually be seen around Mozzarella.

A calm, quiet pig is how you can describe Prosciutto. She doesn’t want to be picked up necessarily, but if it happens she doesn’t complain. She could also honestly care less about other guinea pigs. She is easy going. She does have long hair which sometimes gets chewed on by the others. It can get matted periodically and has to be shaved.
