Marley's Story

Meet Marley – your front-row ticket to the tiniest construction crew ever

Marley is a curious, busy little gerbil who is always on the move—digging tunnels, rearranging her space, and generally being very important. While gerbils aren’t typically lap pets, they more than make up for it with nonstop entertainment. If you love watching natural animal behavior, Marley is an absolute joy.

Important care note:
Marley must be kept on shredded paper bedding only. She has a sensitivity to Carefresh-style pulp bedding, which makes her itchy and uncomfortable. With shredded paper, she does great and stays happy and healthy.

Marley previously lived with another gerbil, but as sometimes happens, the two began fighting and had to be separated. She’ll be happiest living solo or with a very experienced gerbil adopter who understands proper, slow introductions and gerbil social dynamics.

Why gerbils (and Marley!) are awesome:

Expert burrowers – Watching Marley tunnel and redesign her home is endlessly fascinating

Active and playful – Gerbils are busy little creatures who love to explore and forage

Smart & curious – They enjoy enrichment like cardboard, paper, and safe chew toys

Low odor – Gerbils are naturally clean animals

Great "watch pets" – Perfect for people who enjoy observing rather than handling

Marley may not be the kind of pet who demands cuddles, but she will captivate you with her tiny antics and constant activity. If you’re looking for a small pet with a big personality and a lot of charm, Marley might just dig her way into your heart.
