Lucy Chinchilla Chinchilla Manhattan, KS

Lucy is a very sociable girl that is around 2yrs old. She is very curious and will come right up to you in her cage to check you out. She is not afraid to stand her ground though with other animals that approach her cage and she can be very vocal at times. She is also extremely active, especially on her wheel at night. Her favorite things besides her wheel are hay, food, and toys she can chew on. Whenever fresh dust is added to her bath she immediately bathes herself. She is so much fun to watch! Lucy needs someone who will be patient with her, though she is very curious, she is still hesitant to be picked up. Once she is held though she settles down and graciously accepts food if you have any! She is an active young chinchilla that will make a great pet for anyone that is willing to give her their time and patience.

Lucy is not spayed due to the high risk involved with spaying a chinchilla as such we will not adopt her out as a bond mate for a male chinchilla as RCHS does not support breeding. She will need to be a single lady unless you have another female you wish to try to bond her with.

Lucy would also do best in a home with out small children as loud noises often startle chinchillas and they are very fragile when being held.

RCHS chinchillas are fed a diet of oxbow pelleted food once daily and unlimited oxbow timothy hay. They live in large vertical cages with appropriate wooden and lava ledges for climbing and exercise and are provided with proper chew toys as well for their mental and physical well being. Wire bottom cages or wire levels in a cage are NOT suitable for a chinchilla.
