Lenny & Louie's Story

PICTURE TO FOLLOW

Lenny and Louie are appx. 14 week old American males that are brothers and totally bonded. Yet each piggie has not only different colors from each other, but different personalities, too.

Lenny is a rainbow colored boy (red, lilac & white) and is the "shy" one of the group. But he's a little chatterer. If you listen closely, you can hear him "talking" away from somewhere under a pile of hay.

Louie is a beautiful black and white guy. But what's most unusual about Louie is that he doesn't "talk" like most normal guinea pigs. He does this little chirping noise when he wants attention or food. It's very rare to hear a guinea pig chirp like a canary; actually singing as if the canary were in the room. Louis doesn't actually chirp like that; but the chirping he does sounds like a canary singing with the hic cups. It's really odd, yet oddly pleasant. Out of the hundreds of guinea pigs that have gone through our rescue, I have never had a piggie sound quite like Louie.

These boys are very bonded and must be adopted together. And really, there's not much difference between having two piggies or three piggies in the cage. I personally like having 3 pigs to a cage because they are such social creatures and they bond to their cagemates. If something happens to one guinea pig, the other two pigs still have a companion and don't suffer the grief of losing a cagemate quite as much as if they were left all alone.

Guinea pigs are social animals, and should always have a friend of their own kind. Children under the age of 12 should always be supervised by an adult when holding guinea pigs.

They are also vegetarians. Among their favoriite veggies are Romaine, Parsley, Green leaf/Red leaf lettuce, Endive, Collard Greens, Kale, Tomatoes, Carrots (in moderation) and Green/Red/Yellow or Orange peppers, just to name a few.
