Klaus's Story

Klaus was part of an accidental litter; he has two brothers in Northeast Animal Rescue. Klaus is only two months old and is a Roborovski dwarf hamster. This breed of hamster is very small and can be fast. Klaus is a very sweet boy; we have had no problems handling him. Like all Robo's he loves his wheel, and a sand bath is a must. While Robo's are small that does not mean they should have a smaller cage than any other breed of hamster, they are very active little guys.

Klaus is being fostered in Macungie, PA, the adoption fee for Klaus is $15.

All hamsters are solitary animals and should be housed by themselves. They are also crepuscular meaning they prefer to come out during dusk and dawn as well as overnight. For this reason, they do not always make the best pets for children under the age of ten. Hamsters can make cute and fun little pets, but as any pets do, they require some special care.

We recommend all our hamsters regardless of if they are Syrian or dwarf move into a cage that is at least 600 sq inches of continuous floor space. Many cages sold in pet store do not meet this requirement. Below are some of the cages we recommend -
-Prevue Pet Products 528 Universal Small Animal Home
-Bucastate Hamster Cage 2.0 or 3.0 (39.3x19.7x20.6 or the larger version)
-GDLF Hamster Cage with Storage Cabinet (39.5x19.7x43.7)
-Niteangel Bigger World (39.4x19.7 or the larger version)
-Also check out Erins Animals (SomethingAnimal) Hamster Bin Cages 101 and how to make a bin cage on YouTube.

For information on hamster care especially if you are new to owning a hamster, please check out -
-Victoria Raechel Basic Hamster Care series on YouTube

If you are interested in providing Klaus with a loving forever home AS A PET ONLY, please fill out our online adoption application here - https://form.jotform.com/200364365822048

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and we'd be happy to help you!
