Hachi's Story

How this pet arrived: Hachi was brought in by her previous owner on February 24, 2026.Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Hachi! Though Hachi is a bit shy around new people, she's a total sweetheart once she gets to know you. Chinchillas are lovely critters who require specialized care. They can live up to twenty years, so bringing one home is quite the commitment! They need a large multi-level cage (like a Critter Nation!), where they can run and jump during their awake hours - which, being nocturnal, are mostly at night. They will also need a large (14-16 inches tall) wheel to exercise, a dust bowl to bathe in a few times a week, and daily time spent outside of their cage for enrichment. Chinchillas are very sensitive to temperature, so their ideal room temperature is between 60-72 degrees and they may need cooling slabs during the warmer months. The most important part of their diet is hay and pellets. Chinchillas have sensitive stomachs and should not be fed treats or human food! We recommend doing plenty of research on Chinchillas and having everything set up before bringing Hachi home. If you're interested in learning more, ask an Adoption Counselor today! Don't forget to bring a secure carrier for a safe ride home! Primary Color: Grey Secondary Color: White Weight: 1.22lbs Age: 1yrs 6mths 1wks
