Ginger's Story
Meet Ginger!

Ginger came here with her friends; Snowybell and she are a bonded pair who are required to go home together. They qualify for our BOGO for Besties deal. Ginger's favorite treat is spinach mix. Ginger has spent some time around cats and did well. She has also spent time around dogs and did not do well.

Guinea pigs are social creatures and generally should be housed in same-sex pairs or more. Pigs are very vocal creatures and love to squeal, chirp, and whistle! His previous home said he was good with kids.

A properly sized cage for two guinea pigs is a minimum 8 square feet of floor space, but bigger is always better! A small hidey house inside the cage is recommended so the guinea pig has a private place to snooze.

Guinea pigs require unlimited amounts of fresh Timothy hay. Guinea pigs are unable to produce their own Vitamin C and therefore need supplements or Vitamin C-fortified pellets every day. Some guinea pig-safe foods are parsley, bell peppers, Romaine lettuce, carrots, spinach, green alfalfa, grapes, apples, and cranberries.

Pigs also need daily exercise outside of their cage to stretch their legs. This is also a great time to bond with your piggies! Ask TCHS staff for more details/tips on proper guinea pig care.

*Adoption holds may be placed on available animals in person or by calling (320) 252-0896. An adoption hold reserves available animals for one day after the animal is ready to be adopted. More than one adoption hold may be placed on an available animal and will be honored in the order they were received. Adoption holds are $25 plus tax, are non-refundable, non-transferable and not applied toward the adoption fee.

**Minnesota sales tax and an administrative fee ($20 for cats/dogs and $10 for small animals) will be applied to all adoptions. Donations and adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, microchipping, vaccinating, deworming, any medical procedures, and general care of all shelter animals.
