Dexter and Diego's Story

Dexter and Diego are two very young boys that were abandoned at only a few weeks old. When they got here, they had major trust issues. The rescue has been gently trying to gain their trust, and finally, after 7 weeks, we have finally gotten them to the point to where we can hold them and give them treats and gain their trust.

They are now able to be held and loved on. They are still a little skittish on being caught to hold, but once you have them, they are happy to be held. Because of their hesitation on being caught, we recommend children be at least 12 years old and calm. With some TLC and good treats, these boys will be great family pets in no time.

They are very bonded and must be adopted together.

Boys or girls?? Males are usually much more cuddly at an earlier age than females. Males get along just as well as females.

Like all bonded pairs, they have to be adopted together. If you would like to meet these boys, any of the other adoptable piggies at the rescue, or would like more information please email wheekcare2017@gmail.com.

Guinea pigs are social animals and should always have at least one other friend of their own kind. These wonderful little creatures live an average of 6 to 8 years. We’ve even seen them live until they were 9-10 years old! Children under the age of 12 should always be supervised by an adult when holding guinea pigs. Also, a responsible adult should supervise their care and well-being. Email us at wheekcare2017@gmail.com for more information including our adoption form and our Guinea Pig Care Packet with the essential information all guinea pig owners should have.

Wheek Care Guinea Pig Rescue's Adoption Policy
Adopting a trio: Wheek Care has several really great trios available for adoption. We are HUGE believers in trios. To promote the adoption of these sweet trios, we are requesting the same adoption fee, $40, as we request for a pair. Myth: girl guinea pigs are more cuddly than boys. Boy piggies, from around the age of 8 months old, are generally much calmer and cuddly. Adoption through Wheek Care Guinea Pig Rescue is not only rewarding but also very easy! Here is a quick look at our adoption procedure: Email us and request an adoption packet and the specific pair you are interested in, if known. We will send you the application packet. Complete an adoption application and submit it for approval. Upon approved adoption application we will schedule a meet and greet with our adoptable pigs that meet your personality and needs. To ensure that our guinea pigs are going to have the best possible setup when they are adopted we require either a C&C Cage or a Midwest cage be used to house the adopted piggies. These cages ensure ample space for the pigs to stretch and play, reduce chances of dominance fights (because of the size), provides ease of cleaning, and in the case of a C&C Cage - can be customized based on your preference on size, color, decorations, etc. We operate on an "appointment only" basis. We look forward to hearing from you.
