DAPHNE, PENELOPE & PIPER's Story

Three Guinea Pigs were surrendered when their owner could no longer care for them. The two larger piggies are around 9 months old, while the baby is about 3-4 months old. Daphne, (black/white) is the mother of little Piper (small tricolor). Penelope (the larger tricolor) is Daphne’s sister. The piggies are getting acclimated to their foster home where there are lots of other animals and more barking than they are used to. They are super sweet and wheek when their foster mom walks into the room – excited for the attention and snacks they are about to receive. They came to us thin but quickly proved that they LOVE to eat and are gaining healthy weight. They eat lots of hay, vegetables, pellets with added Vitamin C and of course the occasional sweet treat (fresh fruit). All three are comfortable being held and snuggle into you when you handle them. All three are together in a large enclosure and are starting litter training. Piper is still being nursed by Daphne, but that has been slowing down. Daphne and Penelope will be spayed soon, but Piper needs to get a little bigger before we can spay her.

If you’re ready to invite a family of Guinea Pigs to your home or if you have a lonely piggy who needs a friend, send us an email at PetRescueOfMercer@gmail.com
