Meet Barry & Teddy

Fostered in Nashua, NH.

“Teddy is doing great, he is fully recovered and there is no sign that he ever had anything wrong with him. His fur has grown back entirely, he has the fuzziest little tummy, and he is a good healthy weight now. He is a happy little pig, a little shy and will often run and hide in his hidies like most guinea pigs, but occasionally he will let me pet him in his cage and I can pick him up with no problem. He plays with toys and really enjoys going outside in the grass. He gets along with other guinea pigs fairly well, he tends to be less dominant and will keep to himself when other pigs are around for the most part. Teddy is still a little cuddle bug and super sweet and gets along with people really well. He’s got such a great personality and he’s just a sweet little piggie.

Barry is the man, what a guy. Abyssinian guinea pigs are usually pretty outgoing and sociable, but Barry takes that up a notch. Barry seems to be fearless and just a riot. He makes me laugh, he loves having his chin rubbed, and he will stop whatever he is going for a chin rub. He still loves to hang out with people and also enjoys being out in the grass. He is a busy boy and likes to explore during floor time and is really pretty smart. He likes to sit on my shoulders if we are watching TV or hanging out, and he will climb around on me, he also will give kisses which are always sweet. He’s a little more dominant than Teddy but overall gets along with other pigs.

Barry and Teddy still have seperate cages, but share a common removable wall that I often take out during the day when I’m around to supervise them. Barry tends to spend more time in Teddys space and while he can irritate Teddy at first, mostly because Barry starts moving Teddy’s stuff, overall they get along and often will end up taking naps and eating together. They do the normal male guinea pig stuff, but have never been overly aggressive towards each other. They play really well together during floor time and outside time. Teddy values his quiet alone time, Barry can be a bit much for him, but I suspect that if they had a large cage with enough space and place for Teddy to go and be by himself, he and Barry could live together, especially if they started out in the shared space.

Overall these boys are great little guinea pigs and just need someone who can spoil them and give them time, attention and lots of love!”
