Bandit and JJ's Story

Meet Bandit and JJ – Two Best Friends Looking for Their Forever Home!

Bandit and JJ have never had humans to call their own, but they’re hoping that’s about to change. With the help of our wonderful friends at GuineaDad and the loving care from Southern California Guinea Pig Rescue, these two sweet boys are now ready to find a forever family.

Bandit got his name from the adorable black markings around his eyes. He was rescued in December 2022 from a local shelter, along with 11 of his friends. At first, he was very scared—but thanks to the dedicated team at SCGPR, he slowly learned how comforting a human lap can be. Bandit blossomed in foster care, and the best part? He met his best friend, JJ.

JJ (short for Jesse James!) was rescued in December 2023 at just four weeks old. He had been living outside in the cold along with his siblings. Thankfully, he was brought into the warm safety of SCGPR, where he quickly discovered the joys of cuddles, snacks, and companionship.

Now, these bonded boys are ready to start the next chapter of their lives together—with you.

As a special thank-you, GuineaDad will be donating a thoughtful gift to the kind-hearted adopter who welcomes Bandit and JJ into their family. Gift includes 2 boxes of GuineaDad Timothy Hay and 2 treat cups of GuineaDad Pea Flakes (Bandit and JJ’s favorite!) These goodies will help the boys settle in and feel right at home!

If you’re ready to open your heart and home to two charming little companions, Bandit and JJ are waiting to meet you!

To be considered for adoption you must provide a minimum size 2 x 4 grid c&c cage (28" x 56"). Please see our Supply List for links to approved habitats: https://www.socalguineapigrescue.org/supplies-list

If you would like to try out guinea pig ownership, but aren't yet ready to adopt, we offer fostering options which include all needed supplies. Southern California Guinea Pig Rescue's Adoption Policy
Adopters must fill out an application (available online) and submit a photo or receipt of their cage so we can verify our minimum space requirements are met. After approval, arrangements are made for the adopter to meet the guinea pigs with an experienced volunteer to facilitate the introductions and answer any questions. If trying to pair a single guinea pig with a current pig, the application process is the same but the meeting process is a bit lengthier. The adopter can meet with several single guinea pigs to see which one may be a harmonious match. Initial introductions can last a couple hours and the adopter will go home and reintroduce the guinea pigs and monitor for signs of aggression. If the bond fails, the adopter must separate the guinea pigs and we will make arrangements to take the guinea pig back. Then we repeat until we find a good match.
