Due to health and safety concerns, we are now pursuing adoptions with additional safety measures in place. We will be asking potential adopters to discuss their individual preferences and comfort levels involving safety precautions during the greeting/adoption day step. We are HIGHLY suggesting all participants wear facial coverings, stay at least six feet apart, & use sanitization of all surfaces, and hands before and after contact.

Personality: Very shy (you are unable to touch this animal without it running away or being fearful, etc), Inquisitive, Chatty, Playful, Energetic

Favorite treats: Oxbow hay treats and peanuts!

Favorite toys and activities: Running on his wheel (sometimes at the same time as Joe or Alaska!)

Potty trained: Haven’t tried

This animal daily routine: Anise gets attention and love from his foster family periodically throughout the day, but longer outside the cage time and dust baths tend to happen in the evening.

BFF (Does this animal have or need a same species friend in their home?): Yes! Anise is bonded to his brother Alaska and their father Joe!

Health concerns:

Behavioral concerns: Joe, Anise, & Alaska are in our trust training program for their shy behavior and resistance to being touched. Learn more about our trust training methods at https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/trust-training Anise is working on becoming more confident around people. He's very shy and not always ready to take treats from hands, so we're still building his trust that people (and hands!) are friends by using slow, steady movements to offer treats and say hi throughout the day. He is okay once he's out of the cage, but when he's inside he's still nervous to get treats and such. He's already comfortable climbing around his foster mom and receiving pets when she can finally coax him out of the cage (treats and transfer boxes are key).

Other notes: Anise has so much happy energy, and hearing him, Alaska, and Joe chatter lovingly together is the sweetest thing in the world!

Anise & Alaska were born in rescue after their parents were transferred from a hoarding case in South Dakota to MNPPR.

Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. Anise’s foster parent prefers to meet at the Roseville PetSmart - 2480 Fairview Ave N, Roseville, MN 55113 for meet & greets, & adoptions.
