Sand Dollar Reeses #6343's Story

Meet Sand Dollar Reeses, a gentle and striking ball python who has been in rescue care since June 12, 2022—over 450 days of waiting patiently for a forever home.

Sand Dollar has a unique trait: their beautiful brown scales lighten when they’re about to shed and turn darker after. Measuring 51 inches long with an 8-inch girth, Sand Dollar is described as incredibly chill when being handled. In the evenings, they love to explore, often slithering around curiously while relaxing on the couch with their handler.

Despite their calm nature, Sand Dollar needs a secure habitat as they continue to grow. With the right care—including proper diet, substrate, temperature, and humidity—this adult snake can live a long, healthy life of up to 30 to 40 years. Though already on the larger side, Sand Dollar still has room to grow and may reach up to 6 feet, though 5 feet is typical for their species. The rescue will let you know everything you need to get ready for their homecoming.

Sand Dollar’s story began in unfortunate circumstances, left abandoned in a tiny tank outside a pet store. Thankfully, the pet store transferred them to the rescue, where they’ve been waiting for someone to open their heart and home.
