Ocelot's Story
Intake date: 10/30/25
Status: Available

Ocelot is a 7-8 year old female scaleless Texas rat snake. She was originally surrendered to us and adopted out in 2023 and returned this year due to no fault of her own. When Ocelot first came to us in 2023, she was very tiny and underweight. She is now over 400 grams and while she is smaller than most adult rat snakes, she has a good body condition and has grown significantly. Ocelot is very active and eats F/T mice. She can be a little defensive in her enclosure but is friendlier than a "typical" Texas rat snake. She is pretty easy for most of our volunteers to handle as long as they have some previous snake experience. Her adoption fee is $80.

Ocelot will need a minimum 36" x 18" x 18" enclosure.

Visit our care guide here: https://bewildnc.org/corn-snake/

PLEASE READ!
If you are interested in adopting this animal, you need to fill out an application at https://bewildnc.org/apply/. Read the application carefully and answer the questions thoroughly. Above all, be honest! Research the species you would like to adopt in advance and consult multiple sources, we are happy to answer questions. Adopters agree to pick-up the animal in Durham within 7 days of their approval.
