King Snake's Story

This is one of the most healthy and active king snakes we've had for a long time! If you've ever heard the stereotype that king snakes have a strong feeding response, this one lives up to it! Whenever we are feeding f/t mice, he comes right up to the edge of the cage, and at the first opportunity, he lunges at the tongs and fully constricts the f/t mouse like it's an olympic sport! He is a great reptile, especially if you are experienced with king snakes or other food-aggressive reptiles. I would expect him to be a little bitey without regular handling, so I don't recommend him as a beginner snake. I'd recommend handling him with gloves for a while until you are familiar with his feeding signals and responses to handling. I usually expect him to settle down and relax with regular handling. But when he's first taken from the cage, he definitely acts like your hand could be food.

If you are interested in adopting this reptile, please submit an online application at www.forgottenfriend.org/apply.

Please understand:

1.
