Gwen's Story

Intake date: 5/16/23
Status: Available

Gwen is a young female ball python who was transferred to us when another rescue closed down. We would not recommend her for a beginner adopter--Gwen is a good snake, but she is very nervous around people and will strike if scared. She can definitely be handled by our volunteers but we go slow with her and give her space. When Gwen came to us, she hadn't eaten in 7 months, but she has been eating well in a more enclosed rack. She would do best in a smaller enclosure with lots of hides and cover. Her adoption fee is $50.

Care sheet: https://bewildnc.org/ball-python/

**We do NOT approve glass tanks/aquariums for ball pythons due to humidity issues. While they can be appropriately modified, this is not easy for a beginner keeper and we have seen repeated issues with stuck shed and anorexia. Please check out our care guide for alternative housing methods--we do approve PVC cages and appropriate bin setups.**

PLEASE READ!
If you are interested in adopting this animal, you need to fill out an application at https://bewildnc.org/apply/. Read the application carefully and answer the questions thoroughly. Above all, be honest! Research the species you would like to adopt in advance and consult multiple sources, we are happy to answer questions. Adopters agree to pick-up the animal in Durham within 7 days of their approval.
