Fernando #3279's Story

Hi! My name is Fernando!

My previous owner wasn't prepared for taking care of a bearded dragon properly so after a year of trying they surrendered me to the shelter. After a vet check, I was transferred to the rescue to help with my social skills.
I’m feisty, carefree, engaging, adaptive, and cheerful with lots of energy! As a young one I am happy, healthy, and still growing! Now that I have learned people are amazing, I am looking for a forever family who wants to interact with me often.

Fun fact about me! My previous family didn't handle me for almost an entire year! With the patience and persistence of my foster family, I have been able to catch up on my social skills!
Here’s a note from my foster fam –‘Fernando is doing super great. Eating very well, getting pretty dang tame actually. He loves being held and walking around on our shirts. When he came to me he weighed 204g and now he weighs 313g. He's filled out a lot. Still small. His personality has developed and come so far. He loves being held.’

One thing you can count on though is I'm a great eater! Right now I still eat 80% protein and 15% veggies and 5% fruit. At about 4 yrs of age when I am double my current size this will switch to 15% protein, 80 veggies, and 5% fruits.

As a beardie, I require my own habitat as we do best housed individually from my age forward. With the right diet, habitat, substrate, temperature, and humidity I can live a long and healthy life of up to 12 to 14 years! Don't worry, the rescue will provide you with all of the information that you will need to prepare for my arrival :)

If you think we may be a good match, or you would like to get to know me better, please click the Adoption Application button below my bio on the rescue website, here is the link > https://www.smallbreedrescue.org/Home/AnimalDetails/3279

PLEASE NOTE:
1- We can only accept applications from interested parties who are in or near San Diego County, California at this time.
2- We do not ship reptiles but we are willing to work with you if you are willing to travel.
