Boogie's Story
Boogie was surrendered along with his “cousin” Draco. Both are adult males & very overweight. As adult dragons they are housed completely separately & have no interaction, so they should be adopted separately unless someone is wanting 2 dragons with completely separate housing. These are solitary creatures needing a large enclosure as well as regular enrichment time outside of their tank. These boys need to go on a special diet to lose weight but reptiles have a slow metabolism & this process could take many months. We would prefer experienced owners for these dragons but willing to work with a new owner who shows patience & dedication to learning. Boogie is a tad less social & I wouldn’t recommend him as a pet for a child who is going to be eager for interaction. Draco would be a better pet for youngsters. Minimum age to adopt would be a mature teenager who is capable of reading the animals temperament & making decisions that prioritize the animals wellbeing.

Boogie is a bit wiggly with handling & blackens his beard when moved around, but overall he’s really pretty good. Not aggressive. He tolerates baths & likes misting, although neither should really be a routine part of care but this is what they were used to. He’s currently shedding which is why you see white patches in the photos. He’s a very large boy measuring 19 inches head to tail. Only about 1 year old. Purchased from a pet store at 2-3 months old they think. Pet store is the one who sexed him & determined male. He’s been kept on a diet of mixed greens & vitamins so there is not a concern for MBD. They had proper UVB lighting on him. But they were free feeding crickets & superworms which is what led to the obesity. Bugs will need to be carefully restricted in the future to get to a healthy weight.

If interested to apply for adoption, please send a message with some information about yourself, reptile experience, and any supplies currently prepared or planned to purchase. His adoption fee is $40. Our only requirement for adoption approval is that you discuss all care information with us to guarantee proper education. We do also have a setup available for purchase if you have no supplies yet & would like to go that route.
