Toothless's Story
Emergency intake tonight…and one that hit all of us right in the heart.

Meet Toothless, named after the dragon from How to Train Your Dragon.

Just an hour ago, we got a call from a young woman who sounded completely broken. She’d found herself in an awful situation with an ex-partner and needed somewhere safe for her bunny immediately. Every rescue she’d tried was full. Her friends couldn’t help. Her voice shook when she said she didn’t know what else to do.

We only had one emergency spot left - reserved for dumped bunnies - so at first, we had to say no. But the second we hung up, the team looked at each other, and that was it. We called her right back. Toothless could come.

Toothless is 3.5 years old. Her owner rescued her last July after a family kept her caged and even picked her up by the ears. She’s never seen her jump, probably because she spent years confined before being given a second chance.

Her owner has done everything right. She was just dealt a rough hand. After discovering her partner had cheated with six people and cleared out their entire apartment - everything except Toothless - she’s been returning twice a day to that empty space just to feed her bunny.

Tonight, we got to see the love in her eyes as she handed Toothless over. It wasn’t a surrender out of neglect - it was an act of protection. She wanted her bunny to be safe, even if it broke her heart. She also asked us to share her story.

Every single team member here today stayed way late to make sure Toothless and her owner had support and a soft landing.

Toothless loves orchard grass, movies, and thumping when life doesn’t go her way.

She’ll be available for adoption soon - but for now, she’s safe.

Welcome to Dolly’s, Toothless.

If you’d like to help support her, click here: http://dollysdreamhome.org/donate
