Meet Terra
In true princess fashion, she has her own set of rules! Just to be up-front: this bunny needs someone very special who can work with her. She wants to be a good girl, but nips and bites likely out of past trauma from her abandonment situation. She can be affectionate, but is very territorial of her chosen person or foster. She will not be happy if you come home smelling like another bunny. She would like absolute loyalty from her humans!
She also knows when it’s playtime and will thump in her pen to ask for free roam time.
Terra is very special in that she took care of two younger bunnies after all three were rescued together in the Arab Trailer Crisis rescue of November 2023. She groomed Tippy & Waffles (now Trapper) and looked after them. It is possible she is an older sibling. She seems to be very intelligent.
Terra is spayed and has been vaccinated against RHDV2. She is about 2 years old, and will likely turn 3 at the beginning of 2026.
Terra is one of our intakes from the 16 abandoned bunnies from the Arab trailer crisis, in which bunnies were left to perish in a freezing trailer without food or water by an evicted abusive convicted felon who was also a backyard breeder. We aren’t sure of everything Terra went though, but she may have been subject to additional abuse that was spared from the other bunnies. She seems more sensitive than her siblings.
You can read more about the conditions and see photos on our page here https://huntsvillehouserabbits.com/arab-abandoned-bunnies
Like many rescued bunnies, Terra is appreciative of affection and attention. She can be cuddly and very sweet, but sometimes bites if her rules aren’t met. She loves food and treats and attention. She would love a very patient, calm person who can give lots of attention and work with her.
Rabbits can live 10-12 years with good care and an indoor, safe living space! Rabbits need daily Timothy hay, nutritious pellets, greens/veggies, and a bowl of fresh water. Free-roaming or exercise pens work best! We do not recommend cages or hutches or outdoor housing.
Our adoption process:
(1) We ask that you look through our educational slides and writeup (under 10 minutes) using the big buttons on the middle of the page here: www.huntsvillehouserabbits.com
(2) Fill out an adoption application here: www.huntsvillehouserabbits.com/adopt(No obligation to adopt from filling one out.)
(3) You will be contacted and we’ll set up a meeting for you to meet the bunny!
We advise having a safe indoor space available and an emergency fund set aside for an unexpected vet visit for any pet. ?
We also strongly encourage attending our Bunny Basics event (every month on the third Saturday at Southpaw Animal Clinic in Madison, 1-3pm) to learn more about bunny care. We especially recommend this if you are new to rabbits or it has been many years, have small children or multiple pets, or have any history with 4H (as their instruction is often extremely lacking / incorrect).
Please reach out if you have any questions! Message us on our Facebook rescue page or e-mail us at HuntsvilleHouseRabbits@gmail.com
Note: Our rescue does not do on-the-spot adoptions; instead we schedule a meetup for you to meet the bunny you are interested in first and make sure you are comfortable with everything required for their care. We must have a form from you first. We find that this helps tremendously in helping adopters find the rabbit that is right for them.
Our adoption fee for a single rabbit is $100 or $150 for a bonded pair, or $225 for our trio. This is less than the cost of spay or neuter alone for a single bunny (without the RHDV2 vaccine).
