Sugar (Snowball) / Spice (Happy)'s Story

** Please note: As a bonded pair, Sugar and Spice must be adopted together. //

Sugar and Spice are bonded sisters who came to us from Key West SPCA after Hurricane Irma destroyed their shelter. Sugar is a Florida White with red eyes, and her sister, Spice, is a Chinchilla mix with brown eyes. These two (2) girls are medium to large sized, and have had experience in a variety of foster homes with other pets, as well as with human children, and so would do well in almost any home situation. Because they are larger, they need room to roam, and need a house where they can have a larger than normal space to live in. They are friendly and don't mind being touched and petted, but aren't necessarily thrilled with being held. //

In early 2018, it was discovered that Spice had some blood in her urine, with thanks to her then very observant Foster Mom. A subsequent vet visit revealed that Spice had a large bladder stone. Surgery was immediately scheduled, and the stone (which was about the size of a ping pong ball) was successfully removed, and Spice completely recovered. Ever since, Spice has been a happy, hoppy bunny, who is longing for her forever home. //

* Our adoption fee for a bonded pair is $110.

Tampa Bay House Rabbit Rescue's Adoption Policy
Our adoption process is Application, Review, Foster, Adopt. First you need to fill out our foster or adoption application on our website http://www.tbhrr.org/. Then we review it, discuss it with you further, and provide you with a beginning rabbit education through our Bunny Basics class. (The class is free, and we do this for everyone, even prior rabbit owners, as some of what you might have learned previously could have changed with more recent understanding of bunny biology.) Then we ask you to fill out our foster contract and actually foster the rabbit for a month or two; this is to ensure that you like the bunny's personality and learn that rabbit's behavior (and the rabbit learns your household routine), and you get some practice caring for the rabbit without the risk of taking full ownership. Assuming everything works out, then we formalize the adoption through our adoption contract. For a single rabbit, the adoption fee is $75, and a bonded pair is $110. If things don't work out, then we help you select another rabbit if you want. We invite you to follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/TBHouseRabbitRescue, which is where we post the latest updates regarding our rescue.
