Romeo's Story

Romeo is AVAILABLE for adoption!

Romeo is an approx 1.5 year old, neutered, mini Rex male. He is extremely well socialized, brave and enjoys pets and lap cuddles (on his terms). He was an owner surrender who wanted the best for him when their circumstances changed and we are thankful that they reached out to us to assist. During his time in his previous home he was loved on by a respectful young girl who even taught him how to walk on his hind legs for treats!

Romeo will be available for adoption to a family who will not leave him alone for longer than 8 hours a day. He would interact well with children ages 5+ who are taught how to be respectful and understand that a rabbit is not a pet that can be picked up, cuddled or played roughly with.

Upon brief interaction with other rabbits in the rescue he has been quite territorial and therefore I suspect he may need a long, slow bonding process should there be another rabbit in the home or should you consider a companion for him in the future. That is not to say it can't be done or he may not find someone and think love at first sight, however he seems to be quite dominant and bold for a male. We would be open to discussing a trial adoption for a strong candidate who has an existing rabbit in their home.

As with all of our rabbits, we will not adopt out to a home who would want to keep Romeo in a cage all day. The majority of commercially available cages are too small for rabbits! We wish to see our rabbits thrive in a home where they have space to stretch their legs and play. Whether that be a larger x-pen enclosure, a room they have freedom in, or free roam of the house. He wants to be able to spend time with his new family and interact with them as a cherished and valued family member.
