Rambo's Story

Rambo is a very special bunny. He was kept outside in a hutch and then a dog cage with no bottom so he walked on wire for five years. Rescued by two women who were neighbors of the owner, he was brought to the rescue as his life was at risk. He did not know what a litter box was, and had not been given hay or the correct greens or food for many years. His feet were worn down to the skin in places from walking on wire. His nails were long and malformed. His front incisors were black, orange, broken and overgrown. We did not have a lot of hope that he would be able to survive surgery to have his teeth removed, but he came through like a champ. He was neutered weeks after his tooth surgery and did very well in recovery. Rambo will only go to a home with adults who are willing to let him live as a single animal in the home for the remainder of his life. He will sleep most of the day and is excellent with his litter habits. The foster or adopter will agree, in writing, to follow a specific diet for Rambo and will also agree to NEVER take him outside unless it is a trip to the vet. Photos of his living space will be required prior to fostering or adopting and will be sent upon request intermittently going forward. If you are interested in Rambo, please fill out the foster application at hollyhops.org. Fostering is required for 30 days before an adoption, if approved, can be completed. The rescue provides almost everything you will need for the first 30 days. Photos of the area where she will be living and intermittent photos are required and non-negotiable. As with ALL Holly Hops fosters or adopters, a cursory background check will be completed in this case.

Fosters or adopters are required to fill out an application on our website at www.hollyhops.org. Each person in the household is background checked if they are over 18. If there are other pets in the house, a pre-determination is mandatory to see how the other animals react to the rabbit. No home with an aggressive dog or reptile is permitted to foster or adopt. No rabbits in our rescue are permitted to be housed in hutches, cages, or kept outside for any reason. Once we are satisfied that the rabbit will be housed, fed, and vaccinated as required for ownership we permit the adoption. If for any reason the owner cannot keep the rabbit after they adopt, they pay a rehoming fee and the rabbit must be returned to us.
