Pocket's Story
Meet Pocket, our 4th (out of 5) owner surrenders for the day.

Earlier this week, we shared a post with a message that stopped us cold:

“Hello. I have a question. What are survival odds if released in. The wild? I have called many and no luck to find a place for bun bun. We are gone alot and can't care for rabbit the way it needs. Just checking last option.”

That message came from Pocket’s family.

Pocket is about 3 years old, purchased from Rural King, and has spent his entire life in a small hutch. They weren’t even sure of his gender, but we confirmed he’s a boy. A very, very thin boy.

We didn’t have space when they reached out, so we tried (again) to find another placement for him. But they didn’t follow through with contacting other rescues.

Then, by sheer luck, a spot opened up when another intake fell through - someone decided to keep their rabbit in a 1.5x1.5 wire bottom cage with no hay instead of bringing in for their scheduled surrender. So Pocket’s space was waiting.

The first photo is his only pre-intake picture. The rest show him arriving at Dolly’s, finally loved and wanted. Our director is obsessed with the little man. Like full blown head over heels. She told his foster, “I fear this is the nicest most wonderful bunny in the world”

Pocket’s care, neuter, and vetting will cost around $350. If you’d like to help him begin his new life, you can donate at http://dollysdreamhome.org/donate and note “Pocket.”

Welcome to Dolly’s, sweet boy. Being dumped is no longer an option.
