Petunia's Story
Pretty Petunia was surrendered to Blue Chip Rabbitat 4/2/25 for socializing and in hopes of a better life. Though her other needs were provided for, she lived outside in a hutch and became afraid of human touch and interactions. She is now in a loving Foster home to try to gain her trust and get her ready for the new life she deserves as a spoiled house bunny. Though shy and a bit skittish, she is gradually warming up and will accept affection - though mostly on her terms. She is a "chatty" gal, LOL - what may have started out as scared grunts has definitely turned more like her way of communicating. Petunia needs an understanding and patient adopter who is also willing to continue working with her, consistently showing her that hoomans are good and trustworthy.

Petunia quickly settled in to a comfy home environment and is definitely appreciating the pampered house bunny life! She loves her Ikea bed with cushy soft blanket, wooden cottage hidey-house and enjoys enrichment toys. She is curious and playful and loves to forage and dig in a dig box. She'll keep a close eye on what you're doing, which helps lead to positive interactions for trust-building. She will flop down beside you and seems to enjoy your company. Oddly enough, she seems to settle more into petting IF and when you are blessed with the opportunity to hold her. This girl surely is showing us daily that she is all about the house-bunny life!

Petunia is a young adult, DOB estimated approximately 6/1/2023 based on information provided at intake. Which means she looks forward to plenty of life to enjoy with you! She is a good sized New Zealand Blue and needs plenty of space to binky and get her groove on. With her impeccable litterbox habits, she is a perfect candidate to become a free-roaming house bunny!

Petunia was spayed on 5/13/25. So she is ready to be introduced to another rabbit to find her potential bond-bun. She does show interest in interacting with other bunnies. Caution is advised, as prior to spay she would act out aggressively toward other females. Having gotten to know her more, and after spay, we think she'll do well with a friendly outgoing submissive male. Preferably one who is friendly, so they can also further demonstrate for her that hoomans are good. Witnessing those positive interactions will surely help her blossom. She would also prefer a predictable home with no children nor dogs. She is okay with cats.

We are always working with the rabbits to help them find their true bond-bun. Petunia is currently "courting" Elvis, though isn't quite sure about his advances, shall we say. They definitely have chemistry, so we are trying to help them work through their differences.

Should they decide to call it quits, maybe your bunny could possibly be "THE Bun"?

Fill out the application and, once approved, we'll schedule a Meet 'n' Greet to see if your household might be a bunderful match.

* Indoor Home Only *

Bunnies live an average of 8-10 years, but could live up to 16 or even longer! While they do enjoy gentle pets and head rubs, bunnies generally do not like to be picked up or held as they are prey animals and it can be very scary for them. They also need lots of space to move around, run, binky and play - so no small hutches nor cages. They are social animals who want to be with you and should be accepted as part of the family. They also thrive best in bonded pairs, especially during the hours you are otherwise occupied. They need vet visits just like a dog or cat and will require a yearly vaccination against RHDV2. This is a highly contagious and deadly virus. We strive to get all of our rabbits their first annual vaccines.

Please do your research before adding any pet to your family. Visit houserabbit.org and rabbit.org for accurate, up-to-date bunny information. We also encourage you to take the House Rabbit Society's free zoom classes. We are happy to answer any questions you may have before and after adoption, as well as assist in helping you decide whether bunnies are right for you. We offer ongoing support and encourage ongoing learning to ensure that you and your bunnies thrive.

Please find a place in your heart and home for unwanted, discarded rescue animals. Thank you for adopting, not shopping!
