Matilda's Story
My foster writes: Matilda came to us as a foster from the shelter, initially a scared, territorial, and aggressive bunny. She would get upset when we changed "her" litter box and water or touched her toys. However, she has blossomed into a loving companion who eagerly runs towards her family when they enter the room, stays for snuggles, sleeps in bed with her human roommate, and climbs on people for treats. Matilda is very food-motivated, making bonding with her extra fun. While she isn't a big jumper, she will hop onto the couch to sit with her family (or for treats) and onto the bed (for treats and to snuggle while her human is asleep). She still has occasional territorial moments, and we can share tips on managing those.
Matilda warms up to people but remains especially fond of her immediate foster family. She is excellent at expressing her feelings-whether she's in a loving mood, a quiet one, or even a bit spicy. When she's had enough attention or wants to enjoy a favorite treat in solitude, she retreats to her favorite spot.
Her daily routine includes breakfast with pellets in her dig box, followed by socialization and morning exploration activities, including visits to her working human for pets and treats. She then retreats to her safe space behind the bed for an afternoon rest. Dinner consists of greens and social time with her humans.
Matilda has a healthy appetite and enjoys her hay, pellets, greens, and treats. She drinks plenty of water and has impeccable litter box skills. She loves chew toys and needs lots of enrichment. Some bunny-proofing may be necessary as she enjoys exploring her environment.
Matilda thrives on socialization and would do best in a home where someone is present most days. She prefers quieter spaces and tends to hide away when her foster siblings have louder friends over. We've noticed that she's a bit cranky when left alone for extended periods, though this is quickly remedied with some time together + treats.
We believe Matilda would do best in a home without young children or other pets (though she is okay with other bunnies in a separate room) and where someone is home with her most days.
Matilda has grown so much during her time in foster care, and we want her to find the perfect forever home where her love, intelligence, spunk, and quirks are cherished.
