Lightning's Story
About Lightning:
Bonded pair, Rosie and Lightning, arrived into our care in March 2023. We would love for them to finally find their forever home.
They arrived into our care after being transferred from a Windsor area shelter that was overfull. The shelter advised us that they were an owner surrender, citing litter box habits as the reason for the surrender. They had been found outside as strays 3 months prior to their surrender.
Lightning was healthy upon arrival at the shelter, and was neutered. He has a small piece missing from the tip of his left ear, likely from a previous fight with another rabbit at some point (as well as some other signs of old and healing rabbit bites when he first arrived). Since his neuter, his litter box habits have improved tremendously (as expected) and they can now be refered to as perfect!
Lightning is a very sweet boy, and has happily lived in a few different foster homes including those with children, cats and dogs. He adores his bunwife Rosie and is very affectionate towards her.
His most recent annual exam was in April 2025 which he passed with flying colours and was vaccinated against RHDV2 at that time as well.

Written by my foster mom, Tara:
"Lightning was the first to come say hello when he arrived, and his playful personality was clear right away. He loves tossing his toys around and happily brings them back to be thrown again. With time and patience, he has grown much more comfortable with people, he now nudges for attention and lowers his head to ask for head scratches. Every time I enter the room, Lightning eagerly greets me, sometimes even standing up on his hind legs to say hi. He's also become more relaxed with brushing. He currently prefers the comfort of his pen rather than venturing far from it.
Lightning and Rosie are deeply bonded. They groom each other, sleep cuddled together and balance each other beautifully. Lighting is more social with people, while Rosie is more confident overall. Theyt love food (there isn't a fruit or vegetable they don't enjoy!) and have grown much more confident around people over time. While they used to hide when new people entered the room, they now accept head pets and will even climb into laps for treats. They enjoy exploring, chinning everything in sight, and lounging either together in a shared hideout or stretched out in the open on a fluffy blanket."
