Juniper's Story

Meet Juniper! Juniper is a young female rabbit who was recently surrendered to our Marathon Campus. Oftentimes we hear the same, or similar story when it comes down to why rabbits enter our shelter. Purchased or gifted as a cute young bunny for a child, parents quickly realize how much work a pet rabbit actually is and are unprepared to provide a growing rabbit the proper food, housing and/or enrichment that they need. Juniper is one of those rabbits.

Now in our care, she's been spayed and ready for a new family! Juniper has a unique coat color and pattern that reminds us of a Siamese cat. She's a beautiful bunny! Rabbits are very social creatures, so she may be a good companion for a home with another rabbit, as long as it's a good fit. As a single rabbit her family would just have to be sure to give her plenty of extra love and attention.

Rabbits are wonderful companion animals. They can be litter boxed trained, just like a cat, and love to free roam (safely) in a home. They play with toys, take naps, and of course, hop, bink and pop!

If you've been thinking of adopting a rabbit for your family, or as a companion for a lonely bunny, then be sure to meet Juniper at our Marathon Campus!

Florida Keys SPCA's Adoption Policy
We have 2 locations that pets may be adopted from. One in Key West and one in Marathon. Please note which location the pet is located at before going to that location when interested in adopting. For any questions, please call us directly. We ask that adopters look at our available animals online or do a meet & greet at the shelter and once they have decided on a pet they are interested in, they complete an adoption questionnaire. They then meet with an adoption counselor to ensure it is a match for both the animal and the person interested, as well to discuss the animal's history, health and current needs or behaviors if known. If the adopter has a dog and is adopting another dog, we do a meet & greet between the two dogs on neutral grounds. If it is determined this is a good match, the adopter completes their paperwork, pays the adoption fee and takes the animal home.
