Jumper and Tickles's Story

Jumper (male, brown) and Tickles (female, black & white) were recently interview by a reporter from the magazine The Happy Hopper. Here's what they had to say.

Reporter: Tell us about the day you were rescued.

J: It was a hot, humid day in late June. I was frolicking in the grass by myself when this random lady came along and surrounded me with an exercise pen. I thought nothing of it, but then she picked me up and put me in a carrier. I was like, "What the ...?" In a matter of seconds I went from a free spirited bun to a captured prisoner.

T: Well, I was not as gullible as Jumper on that day. I was hopping along across the street from Jumper, and as soon as I saw this lady, I knew something was up. I made her chase me for about 30 minutes across the lawns of many homes and under several parked cars. I thought she had given up when she brought along 2 others. I was hanging out in a line of shrubs, and I guess I wasn't paying very good attention because suddenly there was a pen around me. The lady picked me up and put me in the carrier with Jumper.

Reporter: Were you scared? What happened next?

J: I was a little scared, but Tickles was with me. We rode in the car and went to the home where we have been for months now. I was in that pen again once we got inside, but I didn't like that much. I jumped out immediately which is how I think I got named. LOL

T: I was nervous, but I have to say it was nice to be inside where it was cool and free from predators. We were given lots of hay, water and fresh greens. I liked that! The meal service comes every day in the morning and in the evening. I didn't mind the pen so much because there was nothing I needed to run from.

Reporter: What are your thoughts on living indoors?

J: It's pretty nice! We are safe and the temperature inside is very pleasant. I like the toys and treats we get. I like having play time where I can explore, jump and do zoomies. When I take a break from playing, I give kisses to my caretaker to show my appreciation.

T: It is wonderful! I love when the pellet ball gets filled and Jumper and I can chase it around for snacks. I love getting pets and being able to have fun without worrying about other animals that might want to hurt us. I have to say that I think being rescued from outside was the best thing that could have happened to us. We hope to find a forever home that let's us continue to live the same way.

Jumper and Tickles are spayed/neutered and vaccinated for RHDV2.
