Gandalf the Grey's Story

Gandalf the Grey came from a shelter in Quebec after he was placed on a euthanasia list due to overcrowding. He came into foster care with a head tilt, and received several months of treatment with the hope that he could improve, or the tilt could correct. While Gandalf’s condition is now stable, his head tilt is very likely permanent.

However, Gandalf is a bun that has no concept of disability. He may be tilted, but he runs and moves around as if the world has always been topsy turvy. He’s a chill bunny, who loves to lounge in his space. He gets one medication, twice daily to help keep him from rolling and getting motion sickness. With a little bit of banana, he takes his meds like an absolute champ. He LOVES to eat and will come running up to you for snacks. He also loves some gentle petting and will sit with his head in your hands to get pets all day. He is so beautifully doe-eyed, and you won’t be able to resist loving on him while he looks up at you adoringly.

His set-up currently includes a pen that is open to a larger room, so he is very much a free roam bunny. He loves consistency in his space, so if you do want to add things, do so slowly. He’s not a big fan of change. When he is settling into a new space, he will often roll as he adjusts, but once he gets used to the space, his rolling goes away and he really loves to move around.

Given he has one eye that he actively uses, it’s important to approach him slowly and make sure he sees you, otherwise you could spook him, which he doesn’t like. He may respond with a grunt or a lunge, but once he realizes who it is, he is his usual happy self.

Gandalf needs a gentle soul, who will love him and give him the time and attention he deserves. He has been through so much – when he came into the rescue, he was unable to walk, had to be confined to a dog crate, couldn’t pee on his own, and had to be hand fed. Fast forward to today, and he’s running around, demanding pets and treats. His journey has been incredible, and he is most deserving of a forever family home. Disabled buns are often overlooked, but his care is minimal, and the love and adoration you get back will be worth it tenfold!

Gandalf is neutered, vaccinated, and looking for a special forever family that understands his unique needs. Gandalf is available for adoption, but is also looking for a foster home! Apply today to make this special bun a part of your family.
