Fiona's Story

Meet Fiona! She was found by a staff member of a shelter in Quebec after being dumped in the woods. After her time almost ran out at the shelter she was saved by a wonderful Rabbit Rescue foster home. Since arriving into foster care, she is a big fan of naps, loves to stretch out her hind legs, and enjoys lots of hay and her pellets.

When Fiona first came to Rabbit Rescue, she was a shy, nervous bunny. Through a lot of love and hard work with her foster family, Fiona has learned to trust humans and has blossomed into a wonderful rabbit. She is a brave, happy bun who wants nothing more than to spend her days with people, snuggling on the couch or flopped by their feet. Now that she trusts people, she even happily accepts pets in areas she previously didn't allow, including her sides.

Fiona loves to explore almost as much as she loves to nap. On her adventures, you can find her doing the occasional binky and bunny parkour. Her binkies get pretty high when she has enough room to get a running start!

Fiona is a frequent flopper. She loves to be under her foster parent's desk as they work, reminding them to take breaks so she can get some pets. Fiona also loves to be comfy, and will cover herself in a blanket to be extra cozy. She is a big bunny at 5 kg, with a big dewlap to match! When Fiona is napping, it acts as the perfect pillow.

This sweet girl is highly motivated to be close to people, and will jump on the couch to try and be with you, even if she doesn’t like the feelings of the cushions. She’s also done really well with meeting new people and is quite curious about them.

Meal time is always a favourite, and she extra loves greens including parsley and cilantro. She isn't a picky rabbit though, and she loves just about any food and is always eager for a loop treat.

Fiona would likely make an excellent free roaming bunny in a rabbit proofed space, though she does like having a quiet home base enclosure to retreat to. Fiona does really well on her own with lots of attention from her foster family, but could also be a good bonding partner to a very submissive, laid back male bun.

At Fiona's spay surgery, it was discovered that she had Hydrometra, meaning her uterus had filled with clear fluid. It weighed about 1 pound when it was removed. Hydrometra is painful, and prior to her spay Fiona was picky about where she would allow her foster family to pet her. Her spay was curative and she has not had any issues since. Living pain free has allowed Fiona to settle happily into foster care, with her wonderful personality shining more every day.

Fiona has come such a long way since coming to Rabbit Rescue, and now it is time for her next great adventure - finding her forever home.
