Meet Chloe (Milwaukee)

Chloe is a beautiful Dutch rabbit who came to WHRS due to her behavior. We were told she was very aggressive and screamed when picked up. Rabbits only “scream” or “squeal” when they’re terrified and feel they’re in a life-threatening situation. That told us Chloe’s aggressive behavior was based on fear. Chloe does exhibit aggressive behavior when she’s in a cage. She is afraid of hands coming into her cage. She’s afraid and can’t escape, so she tries to defend herself. Take away the cage and she’s a different rabbit!

Chloe went to a foster home where she didn’t have to be caged. Her previous foster mom says that she is one of those rabbits who is more like a dog than a rabbit. She's smart enough to learn tricks and is lots of fun to watch run around and do bunny leaps into the air. She's a very curious rabbit and loves to explore her surroundings. She's always on the lookout for some new activity. She's happy to be in the same room with you, stretched out nearby, while keeping an eye out for some action.

While Chloe was in foster care it became apparent that her front teeth were causing her pain. She no longer wanted to take a bite of a carrot or apple because it put to much pressure on her teeth. We set up an appointment to have her examined by a vet, who discovered that both of her upper incisors had since broken off at her gum line. Chloe's incisors grew back with time. However, her teeth are not aligned properly. She was recently at the vet to have her teeth filed down and will likely need dental care in the future.

Chloe's past may have made her wary of people, but she's learning that people can be quite nice, too! She's a super clean bunny, very well litter box trained, and always keeps herself well-groomed. She prefers to have the run of the house and she deserves it, making sure she always uses her litter box when she needs to. She's not a fan of being caged, so the more room you give her, the sweeter she will be!
