Meet Butterscotch
Butterscotch came to Rabbit Rescue from a shelter in Quebec after being put on a euthanasia list due to overcrowding.
This gorgeous bun has quickly charmed her foster parents with her determined curiosity, devotion to food, and adorably persistent nature. Butterscotch's litter habits continue to be truly perfect!
After many months in foster care, she has quickly developed routine habits. Including attempting to escape her area by 8:30 am. Butterscotch however isn't a huge jumper and has never attempted to jump over her 2ft fence. But as a proud member of the #couchbunnyrevolution, she can and will jump on the couch. She is a strong bun and can move the gate so it must be secured! Binky for breakfast is her new trick. By 9 am you can find her doing excited binky rounds in the living room! She tends to be pretty hungry most mornings so she gets half her lettuce and her morning pellets.
She will loaf happily for pets and loves to show off her adorable belly. She loves to flop beside her foster mom during the work day and will binky when foster dad is eating his dinner, or her foster parents are chatting on the couch. She's just making sure they are paying attention to the real entertainment!
Butterscotch will then take a long nap throughout the day, changing locations periodically depending on where her foster mom is. She really can nap anywhere! Her favourite nap places at the moment are foster mom's office chair, corners of the living room and her cardboard box. Butterscotch loves to nap, but will come running at the sound of pellets, the fridge, and the closet door in an effort to secure more snacks. She is also convinced the seed heads in her timothy hay are treats and will eat all those first.
She loves to shred cardboard, her favourite treat is banana, and romaine lettuce is her all time favourite veggie, but she will eat dandelion leaves, bok choy, and carrot tops if available. She doesn't prefer mint or cilantro but she will eat it eventually. Her hunger does return in the late evenings and she can be found searching for an extra bite to eat. Butterscotch gets her remaining lettuce at dinner and her remaining pellets throughout the day based on her cues. Some days she naps most of the day and doesn't do binky circles when foster mom is close to the pellet supply. Other days she does it for lunch and foster mom happily supplies a little mid day snack.
Butterscotch totally hates the vacuum. It is her mortal enemy. It is best of Butterscotch and the vacuum don't meet, lest the vacuum end up on the wrong side of her bun-wrath!
Looking for motivation to keep a tidy home? Butterscotch will keep you accountable! She hates clothing or fabric of any kind on the floor. Whether it's a towel, a blanket, or a rogue sock, Butterscotch will move it across the apartment until it is out of her sight. All floor blankets must be secured or they will be banished as well. Her foster mom says it is one of the things she loves most about Butterscotch!
She loves ANY cardboard hideaway and can be found munching and crunching on hay at all hours of the night. Hiding treats in a cardboard ball is a sure way to get a Butterscotch show as she whips it in the air to knock the treat out! Though a plastic treat ball is sure to end up in her water dish in her excitement.
This laid back bun doesn't love a brush, nor having her nails clipped but if you're quick she will let you get the job done.
Butterscotch does really well as a solo bunny, and is fairly independent. She would likely do well bonded to a calm, submissive male bun.
Butterscotch is an all around wonderful bun who happily spends her days napping, exploring, eating, and grooming her perfectly lovely rexie lumps. Butterscotch's foster family adores her greatly, but unfortunately due to personal changes, cannot foster her after mid-April, so Butterscotch is looking for a new foster home - or even better, her forever home! Apply to foster or adopt her and make her dreams come true.
