Apricot's Story

Apricot is a beautiful 5 month old apricot colored male bun. He had a sister that was white with apricot colored spots that I would have called Hopsalot. Their story isn't a happy one. Hopsalot was running around a neighborhood, and a good sam posted her on Facebook. Our team went out to rescue her and when we did we found both siblings and their owner. We did our best to educate on the dangers of domestic rabbits being outside, especially in an area with coyotes. The siblings had come from a breeder and the family wanted 2 so that they wouldn't be lonely. They tried to be responsible and specifically got 2 of the same sex so that they didn't have litters. Or so they thought. I told the owner that breeders were notorious for sexing baby bunnies wrong and offered to check. Sure enough, 1 boy and 1 girl! The owner was ready to relinquish but had to talk to his family. Sadly they didn't relinquish them until Hopsalot was very ill and passing. ? Shortly after arriving into our care, Apricot had an EC attack. He responded to Panacur and recovered well except for becoming food aggressive for a period of time. I have worked with him a lot and he hasn't been food aggressive in quite some time. Our vet said the EC episode was probably very scary for his little brain and that's why he reacted the way he did. Apricot is such a unique and precious boy. He can be picked up and pet and given smooches and teeth purrs accordingly. Because of his history, we are looking for the perfect experienced and rabbit savy family to be his furever home.

*indoor housing only
*only will adopt out to homes that will use Xpens (rather than cages or hutches) or free roam
*Bunnies deserve the best.
