Abbott's Story

Abbott is the sweetest, most loving little pile of fluff you'll ever meet! He is deaf, but that doesn't stop him from being friendly with everyone. He is a very social bunny who loves attention and interaction. He LOVES being pet, especially on top of his head. Once he settles in, he also loves getting his cheeks and chin massaged. He came to HRN with other medical issues, so he is looking for an extra special furever home that can provide the special attention and care to keep him hoppy & healthy.

He has dental issues that are managed with regular molar trims, due about 6 months apart. He also has a sensitive gut, so he produces mushy piles of poop throughout the day, mostly outside his litterbox. He may walk on or plop in them and they get stuck in his fur, so picking up after him consistently can prevent poopy fur. He has a very thick, double coat as well as a "flap" of skin or a "skirt" around his bottom that tends to trap poop, too. His foster parent brings him to the shelter about every 3 weeks for help with his grooming, including brushing and using a buzzer to give him a sanitary shave. which helps a bit with the poop from sticking as easily in that area. He contains his pee and some solid poops to his litterbox.

Because of his sensitive gut and aversion to hay, he is on a special diet of Science Selective Adult pellets and their House rabbit version. He eats the Adult pellets first, then the House version when he's desperate! He cannot handle free feed since he inhales food so quickly, so he gets portions in his dish throughout the day and once overnight. He also gets a fresh variety of hay ("the good stuff!") each morning, but he just doesn't touch it. He occasionally nibbles on timothy hay cubes, but he prefers devouring his pellets! He loves his Science Selective loops and Oxbow Apple Banana hay for treats, but only a few tiny pieces of either one per day.

One final highlight about Abbott: his obsession with the family's other foster bun, HRN's Belle! He had the opportunity to interact with her while supervised by shelter staff, and he was a bit too much for her, but he'd absolutely make an excellent bonding candidate. He also loves his stuffy. He is full of love, and so deserving of the special care he needs. If you are truly committed to his wellbeing in all its complexities, consider adopting Abbott!
