Meet Peanut - C.L.A.S.S. graduate w/B.A., M.A. & PhD!

PEANUT is around 2.5 years old and he is a happy, loving boy! Peanut is happiest when he's with his people, he doesn't care if that means going for a long walk or hike, playing in the yard, or snuggling on a couch. He's got a terrific temperament -- so much so that he visits people at an assisted living facility as part of our Golden Outreach program; they love him there, he's so happy and so gentle! Peanut is also a smart guy, having passed his B.A., M.A., and PhD level tests in our Canine Life and Social Skills training program! Peanut would be a great play pal for kids. He is great with medium and large dogs (no small dogs or cats for him), and while he wouldn't mind play dates he'd probably prefer to live as the only dog in the house (but it really depends on the adopter and the other dog, so it's worth talking to our trainer about!)

PEANUT is eligible for Critter Credit -- $250 to spend on sessions with a recommended trainer or for a gift card to Petco or Petsmart! And he's part of our new SPCA Slumber Party program, meaning you can bring him home for a couple days to see how things go before finalizing the adoption! Plus, his adoption fee has already been paid by a volunteer who adores him AND he will be going home with a goodie bag that includes a collar, harness, toys, treats, and a jacket! For more info or to meet Peanut, e-mail trainer@spca914.org or call (914) 941-2896 x24.

When to Come:
Our hours are Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm and Sunday 1pm-4pm. Our adoptions are first come, first served based on the status of your application.

What to Bring:
Please bring a copy of your current pet(s)’ vaccination records (if you currently have a dog or cat or did within the last 2 years) and a copy of your lease (if you rent or own a condo/co-op/townhouse) in case we are unable to get hold of your veterinarian or landlord/management company on the day you come in.

Adoption Process:
We do same day adoptions pending application approval/satisfactory reference checks, except in the case of dogs listed as Trainer Adoptions (on occasion, some Trainer Adoption dogs are able to go home same day). With all adoptions, every person living in the home where the dog will reside must come meet the dog, and any dogs already in the home must come for a meet and greet as well.

We do NOT hold animals, nor do we accept deposits in advance. If you have discussed coming in to meet an animal or have an approved application, this does not guarantee that you will get a particular puppy or dog. If you do not bring your dog(s) or all residents of your home to meet the dog, we cannot hold that dog for you.

Adoption Fees & What’s Included:
All dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated (age appropriate), and come with a free veterinary visit from a participating vet within seven days of adoption.

Adults dogs over 1 year of age: $225-$375
All Puppies: $375
Seniors and Lonely Hearts Club members: $85
