Boss Pointer & Hound Mix Cincinnati, OH

Boss came to us via another shelter. They told us at the time that we would be meeting the most lovable love bug there is. They weren't wrong.

But what they didn't tell us (which to be fair they didn't know themselves) is that Boss had a wicked case of heart worms. Thankfully STAF is a shelter that is able to help dogs with medical cases like this. Boss went for his heart worm treatment and is now ready to be adopted. Currently Boss has finished all of his treatments and is believed to be heartworm free. Pesky vets though require a six month check-up to be sure, which is in a few months. Boss has no limitations when it comes to what he can and can not do..

Remember the part about the lovable love bug? Through all of this (some of the early injections can be quite painful) Boss has always had the best disposition. He loves everyone and he loves life. If he could talk I think he would let us know that he knows he was given a second chance and he's going to do everything he can. He loves to be petted and he loves his walks. His favorite though is when you sit with him and he's able to worm his way in to your lap. Which is quite the feat because Boss is not a small dog.

Boss is a puppy at heart. He has been on a few home visits with volunteers and he's learning the ropes of what it's like to be in a home. He's learning that not everything is a chew toy. He's getting used to hardwood floors and he runs around the backyard in joyful abandon. Puppies seem to get away with this kind of behavior. Grown dogs like Boss are expected to know better, but sometimes they don't. You can have all the fun that you would have with a puppy. Boss would just be a 70 pound puppy.

Boss's estimated birth date is May 2008. He's a squat, compact dog. Pointer/Hound is our best guess and to be honest it could/couldn't be either one of them. But petfinder won't let me use lovable love bug.

All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.
You must complete an application at the shelter prior to meeting any of our animals. (Sorry--our application is not available on-line or via email.)
We do not do same-day adoptions; we ask that you return for a follow-up visit before taking an animal home.
We require a fenced yard (sorry--no invisible fences) for homes with children under age 13.
We do request vet and personal references.
At this time, we are only able to consider applicants within 150 miles of Cincinnati.
