Lu-Man Parrot Quaker Parakeet Brandon, FL

Hello! My name is Lu. My foster Mom calls me the Lu-Man – or sometimes “The Mean Green Terrorizer!” I am a 6 year old quaker parrot and my foster Mommy says I am very special. I had an accident with my beak that has left me with only a partial beak on one side, but I am able to get around just fine and I am eating regular pellets, chop, fresh vegetables and fruits, and healthy nuts – almonds are my favorite nuts! However, I also go crazy over Caitec Birdie Munchie Cookies and I have to have chop every day, or I will vocalize until I get it!

I have graduated to a regular cage now but I still have to go to the vet every month for a beak trim – this needs to be done by an avian vet to make sure it is done in a very specific way so that I am can still get around and eat properly. My beak is still deformed but I am able to use it much more fully now. So, don’t worry – my small handicap does not take away from my bite! I can be very territorial of my cage and I only like certain people. In fact, when I pick the person I trust, watch out - you better not come near, because I will defend that person from you! My chosen person enjoys shoulder time with me and a nice preen of their face and hair.

I don’t like hands though – even the hands of my chosen person, so I only step up in a certain way – don’t worry, my foster mom can show you, it is easy. With more time, I may learn to trust your hands as long as you are very patient and loving with me. I really hope that you will come and visit with me soon. An avian veterinarian has properly vetted all birds before they are placed up for adoption. Adoption fees include the bird’s cage IF the bird has a cage - most do, but please ask!
