The prevention of cruelty to animals,
the relief of suffering among animals,
and the extension of humane education.
Search available pets at your local shelter - There are listings online with descriptions of each animal that is available for adoptions.
2.Visit your local shelter - Seeing an animal’s photo is not enough to choose your perfect pet.
3.Fill out application - Filling out an application can take some time, or no time at all.
4.Set up a time for meet and greets - Setting up a time with the shelter so you can meet the animal personally is crucial. Being able to be alone with an animal will show you how they react to you. If you have other pets, you may also bring them in to meet the potential pet. This is also a great time to ask questions about the pet with shelter staff.
Different shelters ask for different information. At the Humane Society of Sheboygan County, we ask for references and for you to fill out our application that is specific to the animal you want to adopt.
5.Process being completed
6.After your application has been accepted - Different shelters take different amounts of time to accept application and to give you your new adopted pet.
