Rivers and Bluffs Animal Shelter will be a passionate advocate that will provide quality care for companion animals in need as we seek their forever homes and educate the community about responsible pet ownership.
Rivers and Bluffs Animal Shelter strives to find our animals the best home and to minimize the amount of time the animal stays in our shelter. For those reasons, we do not necessarily wait for all interested adopters to fill out adoption forms before placing the dog or cat. If you are interested in an animal, please visit us and fill out an adoption form as soon as possible. If you don't get the animal you want, there may be another just waiting for you! We only want what is best for our furry friends.
The adoption fees:
Under six months - $300.00
Six months to one year - $250.00
Over one year - $200.00
This includes spay/neuter, rabies vaccination if age appropriate, heartworm testing if appropriate, deworming, flea/tick medicine, Bordetella and distemper/parvovirus vaccinations. Microchip is also included.
The adoption fee for an adult cat over one year is $100 (tax included) and a kitten under one year is $125(tax included). This includes spay/neuter, distemper vaccination, deworming, FeLV testing and a rabies vaccination if age appropriate. If the new owner requests, a microchip is included. (An extra fee may be applied.)
Our organization has done its best to evaluate the health and disposition of the pet(s) you are adopting. However, RABAS can only assure you that the pet(s) you are adopting appeared healthy and was/were suitable for adoption at the time of the adoption. It is possible that he or she has been exposed to diseases that may not show symptoms for several weeks, including diseases that could be transmittable to humans.
Refunds. No matter how careful the shelter is in attempting to match the right pet with the right family, there are occasions where animals are returned to the shelter. Adoption fees are non- refundable, except at the discretion of the Shelter Manager. Those fees not refunded are considered a donation.
Animal Returns. For adopted animals returned to the shelter at any time, staff records the information on the Log Sheet. The adopter must return the Rabies tag, the Rabies Certificate, and any other information pertinent to the returned animal that was given to him or her at the time of adoption. At the Shelter Manager’s discretion, another animal may be chosen to adopt within a 30-day limit.
