Our Mission
Shady’s Paw Animal Rescue is a non-profit corporation and shall operate exclusively for the educational and charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future Federal tax code. Shady’s Paw Animal Rescue’s purpose is to improve the lives of cats and the people who care for them in Lake Holiday and the surrounding areas through 1) TNR and colony management, 2) fostering and adoptions, 3) educating the public on best practices for feline care in the home or colony setting, and 4) supporting the needs of cats in the communities we serve.
Adoption Policy
Potential adopters are encouraged to complete an adoption application. Once an adoption application is submitted, one of our adoption coordinators will reach out for a phone interview. This is an informal conversation to answer any questions or address any concerns that you may have. We will contact references, veterinarians, and complete a video home visit before final approval. This process can take 1-7 days depending on return time of calls.
We are a 100% foster-based rescue and do not have a brick-and-mortar location for you to visit. Regular adoption events are held in Winchester VA and Martinsburg WV and beyond. Once approved, you can also request a private meet and greet.
Kitties who are not yet spayed / neutered or need additional veterinary care will be placed in foster-to-adopt status with their adopter until their vetting is completed. Your adoption fee helps us to cover less than half of these costs. Additional donations are appreciated!
