The Isle of Wight County Humane Society is an all volunteer organization that promotes responsible pet care and the humane treatment of animals in our local community.  Humane Society members take in homeless and unwanted animals and provide them with foster care and medical treatment. When the animals are healthy and socialized, they are adopted out to permanent homes. Our pet adoption program is very successful and we find homes for hundreds of dogs and cats each year.
Adoption Policy
The Isle of Wight County Humane Society does in-person interviews to be approved as a home. There is no paper application to fill out before an adoption event. We reserve the right to approve or deny a prospective adopter based on what we determine is in the pet's best interest.

We are an all volunteer foster based rescue and we do not operate a physical shelter or have business hours.. Our adoption events are the best way to meet our pets and be interviewed. See the events section of our Facebook page for upcoming adoption events. Thank you for considering adoption!
