Our Mission
The Smyth County Animal Shelter provides a warm and safe environment for all animals in our care. Our staff works with Smyth County Animal Control Officers to serve our community and the animals that live in our area. We serve stray and lost animals as well as sick or injured animals that require emergency veterinarian treatment. We provide assistance when owners need to rehome their pets; provide education and resources to keep animals with their owners and allocate space for animals awaiting court cases.
Adoption Policy
Potential adopters must first complete an adoption application. Each pet's adopter is chosen from the pool of applicants based on which home is the best fit for each pet. Consideration is given to the pets energy levels, physical and medical needs, as well as the temperament of the pet.
