Southampton County Humane Society
Our Mission
To promote and protect humane treatment of companion animals in Southampton County by coordinating access to affordable veterinary care, transfer, placement, transport, and adoption of companion animals to rescue organizations and forever homes.
Adoption Policy
All prospective adopters will need to complete the following steps:
1) Prospective adopter will fill out an adoption application and return via email.
2 ) SCHS volunteers will check all personal and vet references.
3) SCHS volunteers will schedule a home-visit (in-person or virtual) to ensure a safe environment for the pet.
4) SCHS volunteers will schedule a meet-n-greet with the animal and any other pets living in the home.
5) Adopter will sign Adoption Contract and pay adoption fee on or before the scheduled "gotcha day"!
