Adoption Policy

Jeff Tarpley Rescue is a full-time volunteer rescue effort dedicated to helping dogs. All dogs for adoption are rescued from shelters or owner surrenders. Puppies under 4 months old are vaccinated and dewormed several times, with a spay/neuter contract required for adoption. The vetting of an adult dog includes spay/neuter, vaccinations including rabies, and heartworm testing. Dental work and treatment of heartworms, cherry eye, mange, parvo exposure and broken limbs are some examples of what is done to save lives. Shot and medical records come with the dog upon adoption and include the last date heartworm prevention was administered. We require all potential adopters to submit an application. We only accept applications for a specific dog you are interested in adopting. We do not keep waiting lists or files of general applications for dogs we might get later. Jeff Tarpley Rescue welcomes applications from homeowners, renters, and condo or apartment dwellers. At a minimum, a phone interview will be conducted and a vet reference checked before the applicant may meet their preferred pet. We adopt primarily in the 4 states of the ArkLaTexOma. Applicants willing to travel to Texarkana will also be considered with additional requirements to qualify as approved.
