Our Mission
Twisted Branch Aussie Ranch is a dog rescue group in the beautiful Cedar Creek Lake area of East Texas. Â Our primary focus is to rescue Australian Shepherds and other herding breed dogs from Texas animal shelters, rehabilitate them into adoptable pets, and place them in well-suited forever homes.

With few exceptions, we do not use foster homes. Â Most of the dogs in our rescue live here in the home with us as members of our family, and they sleep and eat indoors and have free run of the yard during the day. Â We feel that this is the best way for us to prepare these dogs for adoption and life with their new families, to teach them house manners and basic obedience training, and to get to fully know them so that we can make a proper placement.

Not all dogs that end up in animal shelters are strays. Â Sometimes a very well-mannered, purebred dog will find itself in a shelter after the death of their owner, something no dog should have to face. Â
Adoption Policy
Please keep in mind that we are not a shelter where you can visit dogs and go home with one that day. Â We are a home and family first, and a rescue secondly, and in order to maintain a family environment for the dogs, we are only able to offer visits after we have an approved adoption application from you. Â We put a great deal of effort into every dog that we rescue, sometimes driving several hours to rescue them and then spending a huge amount of time caring for them physically, training them, socializing them with other dogs, and teaching them house manners. Â We bring these dogs into our home, into our family, and in some cases, into our bed to sleep with us. Â They are our family, and we care deeply about every dog that comes into our rescue. Â For this reason, we are very particular about where our dogs go. Â We do not adopt on a first-come, first-serve basis, but instead adopt to the family who is the best match for that particular dog.
