Our Mission

Alpine Humane Society builds community commitment to the humane treatment of animals. To achieve this vision, we provide adoption support services, spay/neuter funding, medical assistance, and community education.

Vision: Brewster County: Where every animal has a full and rewarding life.

Values: Six core values guide our work and decision-making:
-We do our work with passion, compassion, respect and kindness.
-We are dedicated to reducing suffering and improving the lives of animals.
-We believe community engagement and education are the best ways to eliminate pet overpopulation.
-We are committed to the pursuit of successful pet adoptions.
-We believe euthanizing adoptable animals is unacceptable.
-We believe every dog and cat should be spayed/neutered until there are no homeless pets.

Alpine Humane Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 1982. Your donations may be tax deductible.

Are offices is located inside the AHS Thrift Store (706 N 5th St, Alpine, TX). Jeanine Bishop is the AHS Executive Director (jeanine@alpinehumanesociety.org)

Adoption Policy

You can visit adoptable pets at the shelter, 2900 Old Marathon Highway, Alpine, TX 79830.

Alpine Humane Society does not process most adoptions. The majority of our animals listed on our Petfinder page are adopted through Alpine Animal Services and the city shelter. AHS assists the shelter by photographing and promoting animals via social media, Petfinder, and printed flyers distributed throughout our communities. Each pet will have information if they are located in a foster home or our cattery if they are not at the shelter.
