Our Mission
We are a critical-care rescue taking in animals that might otherwise be euthanized due to their condition or are in immediate danger. The mission of our group is dedicated to helping homeless, abused, neglected, sick and injured animals of Lancaster County through rescue, foster care, veterinary care, spay/neuter and placing in happy, healthy homes.
Adoption Policy
Adoption Process:
We do not operate a shelter. All animals are placed in foster homes until a permanent home is found. If you are interested in meeting one of our fur-babies, please complete the Adoption Application on our website at www.LancasterSPCA.net. Once approved, we will set up a meet and greet at a mutually agreeable time.
Please note that completion of our application does not guarantee adoption of a Lancaster SPCA animal. We reserve the right to refuse adoption for any reason.
Our rescue is an all volunteer organization. For each application we receive it takes time to review, contact all personal and veterinary references, and make a decision on approval. Depending upon volunteer availability, this can take several days to accomplish, especially when we receive a lot of applications or if we have difficulty reaching references. An approved application means that the applicant is approved to adopt a pet from our organization; it is not a guarantee that the applicant will be able to adopt the pet specified on the application. We often receive many applications at once so please don't be too disappointed if your application is approved but the pet you requested is no longer available. We strive to do our best, and always take the best interest of the pet into consideration.
Adoption fees: (For adoptions beginning June 1, 2018)
-Puppies - $200.00 - Includes full veterinary exam, spay/neuter, microchip, deworming and age-appropriate vaccines.Â
-Adult Dogs / Seniors - $200.00 - Includes full veterinary exam, heartworm test, geriatric blood work (if needed), spay/neuter, deworming, rabies vaccine and adult booster, and microchip.
-Cats & Kittens - $50.00 for one and $25.00 for each additional cat or kitten adopted at the same time - Includes spay/neutering, age-appropriate vaccines and FIV screening. Microchip available for additional $20. Kittens are litter box trained.Â
